ADVANCED MANUFACTURING & MATERIALS
Fusion-based manufacturing, advanced joining, and next-generation material engineering

Ion Fusion develops advanced manufacturing solutions by combining fusion-based processes, material engineering, and intelligent process development methodologies for demanding industrial applications. Our activities focus on enabling manufacturability where conventional production routes become limited by geometry, material behavior, environmental conditions, or performance requirements.
Our experience includes welding and additive manufacturing process development, functionally graded material (FGM) concepts, dissimilar material joining, advanced surface engineering approaches, and localized microstructural tailoring strategies. Beyond composition-driven material gradients, Ion Fusion also explores process-assisted engineering approaches based on dynamic recrystallization, grain refinement, and thermo-mechanical microstructure control to achieve region-specific material behavior within a single engineered component.
Selected activities include graded transition joint (GTJ) developments between CrMo steels and stainless steel systems using Inconel interfaces, friction stir welding (FSW) of dissimilar aluminum-copper systems, micro-FSW applications for thin-gauge aluminum structures, friction stir processing (FSP)-based heat affected zone upgrading through dynamic recrystallization mechanisms, advanced cladding concepts, and process development studies involving high entropy alloy (HEA) systems and next-generation additive manufacturing workflows.
